About Soy Capitan
Soy Capitan was conceived in the year 2000 as the imaginary band of Julie Douglas and Deborah Matzner, both former members of the lesser-known imaginary band, John's Band Sucks.
In early 2002, the band made a breakthrough with the registration of the domain name "soy-capitan.com" and the subsequent placeholder page, which portrayed a heartwarming scene from the band's early career. Namely, a trip to the burned out urban blight of a beach near the end of the Rockaway-bound LIRR line. Though they had big plans for guitar lessons and kitschy t-shirt production, the billows of black smoke rising from just beyond the Rockaway boardwalk would forever color their short-lived musical collaboration.
Like so many of the greatest talents, the band had, by late 2002, grown apart. Creative differences, laziness, and the pursuit of interests outside of the realm of the imaginary (including, but not limited to, PhDs and barcodes) were the downfall of Soy Capitan. All that was left by the summer of 2003 was a monthly bill for web hosting, a blank web page, and 5-6 disappointed fans (self-inclusive).
Soy-capitan.com has since degenerated into my personal website. Here you can now find samples of my web design and production work.
Now, please enjoy a brief flying trapeze trick.
And again.
